Melbourne makeup artist and influencer Adelle Petropoulos—known for her Greek-Australian roots and viral takes on Greek cuisine—turned what was supposed to be her wedding day into an epic girls’ night (complete with a very pointed dessert).
On November 30, the 30-year-old shared a series of Instagram photos and videos from the celebration, showing her and her closest friends dressed up and laughing over dinner. The undisputed star of the night? A white cake boldly iced with the words “Cheaters don’t get cake.”
Adelle proudly held the cake up to the camera, stuck her tongue out, then took a triumphant bite while her friends cheered.
“Cancelled the wedding, kept the party. Thank god for my girls 🫶,” she captioned the post.
Noticeably missing from her finger: the engagement ring.
The breakup became public in September when Adelle posted an emotional TikTok announcing that she and her fiancé Anfa were no longer together.
“What I didn’t have on my bingo card for this year was cancelling my f------ wedding,” she told her followers. “Something has happened… that didn’t align with my principles [or] values as a human being that has made a lifelong commitment to someone. And I have decided to walk away.”
Fighting back tears, she added: “It has been the hardest thing that I have ever had to do in my whole entire life, but that’s okay. We live, we grow, we learn… everything happens for a reason.”
Since the split, Adelle has been open about the aftermath: selling wedding décor she’d already purchased, revealing Anfa had moved out of the home they shared (which she owned before the relationship), and admitting the upcoming Christmas season will be tough.
“This Christmas will be hard, but it’s coming nonetheless, so I’d better get f------ used to it,” she said in a September update. “I’ve never been this emotional in my life.”
Despite the heartbreak, her “would-be wedding day” party made one thing clear: Adelle is reclaiming her joy, surrounded by friends and a very satisfying slice of cake.
