Zakynthos — A magnitude 5.0 earthquake has struck the Ionian Islands region of Greece, according to initial reports from seismological authorities.
The quake's epicenter was located approximately 67.8 km west-southwest of Zakynthos, in the seafloor of the Ionian Sea.
No immediate reports of damage or injuries have been received, but residents in Zakynthos, Kefalonia, and surrounding areas reported feeling moderate shaking.
Greece's Geodynamic Institute and the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) are monitoring the situation, with aftershock alerts possible.
Authorities urge residents to remain vigilant and follow safety protocols.
