Greece Announces Christmas Bonuses and Payments Timeline

Greece’s social security agency e-EFKA and the Public Employment Service (DYPA) will pay out pensions and benefits worth more than €1.21 billion to around 1.76 million beneficiaries by Christmas Eve, December 24.

According to the announced schedule, a total of €1,211,449,062.68 will be disbursed between Monday, December 22, and Wednesday, December 24, as part of the regular payments by e-EFKA and DYPA.

Payments by e-EFKA

From e-EFKA, the following amounts will be paid:

  • December 22: €1,135,042,864.65 to 1,680,579 beneficiaries for main and supplementary pensions for January 2026.

  • December 24: €3,050,000 to 8,200 beneficiaries for advance pension payments for January 2026 under Law 4778/2021.

  • December 23: €16,326,198.03 to 34,460 beneficiaries for benefits, including maternity allowances, funeral expenses, and sickness and accident benefits.

  • December 22–24: €28,500,000 to 1,350 beneficiaries following decisions for lump-sum payments.

  • December 24: €3,000,000 to 2,000 beneficiaries for refunds of contributions paid by self-employed workers.

Payments by DYPA

DYPA will also make the following payments:

  • €10,000,000 to 16,500 beneficiaries for unemployment benefits and other allowances.

  • €500,000 to 80 mothers for subsidised maternity leave.

  • €15,000,000 to 14,000 beneficiaries under subsidised employment programmes.

  • €30,000 to 50 beneficiary bodies for contributions linked to community service programmes.

The payments aim to support households and beneficiaries ahead of the Christmas holidays.
