Police in Thessaloniki have opened a multi-count case against six young men following a harrowing report from a 13-year-old girl who claims she was the victim of a months-long campaign of sexual abuse and digital exploitation.
The investigation, led by the Minor Protection Sub-Directorate, reveals a disturbing pattern of events that allegedly occurred between February and April of this year.
The victim, a minor of Filipino descent, came forward with a detailed complaint detailing how her trust was exploited. According to her testimony, the abuse was facilitated by a 15-year-old acquaintance who allegedly lured her into compromising situations.
Police reports indicate the girl was led to:
-
A common area within an apartment complex.
-
Women's restrooms at a public parking facility.
The authorities state that four of the suspects carried out sexual acts against the girl's will, while others encouraged the acts or participated in secondary assaults.
A particularly chilling aspect of the case involves the use of mobile technology. The suspects are accused of filming the sexual acts on their phones.
Evidence has already surfaced showing that segments of this footage were distributed through a popular social media application. This "revenge porn" element has added a layer of digital forensics to the ongoing investigation.
The suspects, ranging in age from 14 to 19 years old, face a litany of serious criminal charges, including:
-
Rape
-
Sexual acts with a minor
-
Child pornography
-
Revenge pornography
-
Violation of personal data laws
Greek police (EL.AS) have seized several mobile devices, which have been sent to the Forensic Science Sub-Directorate of Northern Greece for deep-data recovery and analysis.
The completed case file is scheduled to be submitted to the Public Prosecutor of First Instance. Authorities are currently examining whether there are additional victims or further instances of the footage being shared across encrypted messaging platforms.
