Swedish Police Shoot Dead Suspect After House Attack

Swedish police shot and killed a young man after he allegedly attacked residents inside a home in the northern city of Boden, where officers also found a woman dead, authorities said.

In a statement, police said they were alerted to reports that a man aged between 20 and 30 had assaulted the occupants of a house using some kind of weapon. When officers attempted to arrest him, they opened fire, fatally wounding the suspect.

Inside the house, police discovered the body of a 55-year-old woman. Two other injured people were taken to hospital for treatment.

The incident prompted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack and the police response.

Boden is located about 80 kilometres south of the Arctic Circle and is home to Sweden’s 19th Infantry Regiment.
