Ukraine Evacuates Thousands of Children as Fighting Intensifies

Ukrainian authorities have ordered the evacuation of more than 3,000 children and their parents from dozens of frontline settlements in the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions, citing worsening security conditions as Russian forces continue their advance.

The evacuation order affects approximately 44 towns and villages located close to the front lines, where fighting has intensified in recent months. The measure is described as a mandatory relocation aimed at protecting civilians, particularly minors, from the escalating hostilities.

Ukraine’s Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development and Reconstruction, Oleksii Kuleba, confirmed the decision in a statement, stressing the gravity of the situation on the ground.

“Due to the difficult security situation, it was decided to carry out the forced evacuation of more than 3,000 children and their parents from 44 frontline towns and villages in the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions,” Kuleba said.

The evacuations come as Russian troops maintain pressure across parts of southern and central Ukraine, prompting Kyiv to expand civilian protection measures in areas deemed at high risk. Ukrainian authorities have not yet disclosed where the displaced families will be relocated or how long the evacuations are expected to last.
