Man Hospitalised After Brutal Beating Over Financial Dispute

A 59-year-old man has been hospitalised following a brutal assault linked to a financial dispute in the Athens suburb of Agios Dimitrios, Greek police confirmed.

The incident occurred at around midday on Saturday, January 3, on Prevezis Street, inside a ground-floor apartment building. According to initial reports, a confrontation between two men—aged 56 and 59—escalated into violence over unresolved financial differences.

Authorities said the 56-year-old suspect attacked the victim with kicks and punches, causing injuries that required hospital treatment. Emergency services transported the injured man to hospital, where he remains under medical care.

Police arrested the alleged attacker shortly after the incident. During checks, authorities discovered that the injured 59-year-old was also wanted in connection with a robbery case. As a result, he is being treated in hospital under police guard.

An investigation into the circumstances of the assault is ongoing.
