Opa! Sydney’s Largest Greek Festival Returns This Sunday at Carss Bush Park

Sydney, NSW – January 5, 2026 – With just days to go, excitement is building for the return of the Epiphany Greek Festival, Sydney’s biggest celebration of Greek culture and Orthodox tradition. Set against the stunning waterfront of Carss Bush Park, the free family-friendly event will take place on Sunday, 11 January 2026, from 11am to 8pm.

Organised by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, the festival is expected to draw around 40,000 visitors for a full day of authentic Greek food, live music, traditional dances, and the sacred Epiphany ceremonies.

Over 80 stalls will fill the park with the irresistible aromas of freshly grilled souvlaki, honey-drenched loukoumades, spanakopita, grilled octopus, halloumi, tiropites, and an array of traditional sweets and desserts. Visitors can also enjoy Greek coffee, yoghurt, and even Sydney’s largest Greek BBQ.

The spiritual heart of the day is the Great Blessing of the Waters and the iconic Cross-throwing ceremony, led by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios. Dozens of brave young men will dive into the waters to retrieve the Holy Cross – a centuries-old tradition commemorating the baptism of Jesus Christ in the River Jordan.

Throughout the day, the park will come alive with live Greek music, performances by dance groups from across Sydney, and an exclusive appearance by renowned Greek singer Giannis Chatzopoulos. Families can enjoy amusement rides, a Ferris wheel overlooking the water, face painting, games, and plenty of open spaces to relax.

The festival will conclude with a breathtaking fireworks display over the waterfront at sunset, promising a spectacular finale to the day.
