Athens International Airport posted a new passenger record in 2025, serving 33.99 million travelers, according to official figures released on Wednesday.
The total marks a 6.7% increase compared with the previous all-time high of 31.85 million passengers recorded in 2024, underscoring the continued strength of Greece’s tourism and air travel recovery.
International travelers accounted for nearly three quarters of all passengers passing through the country’s main airport. Foreign arrivals and departures reached 24.36 million in 2025, representing an annual increase of 8.6%.
The strongest inbound traffic came from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Italy. Airport data also pointed to notable growth from long-haul and emerging markets without direct air connections, including Australia, South Korea, Japan, and countries in Latin America.
Domestic travel showed more moderate growth, rising by 2.2% year-on-year to 9.63 million passengers.
Airport officials noted that the sustained rise in passenger numbers reflects Athens’ expanding role as a regional aviation hub and a key gateway to Greece.
