Strong Winds Disrupt Ferry Services Across Greece

Strong southern winds reaching 8 to 9 Beaufort are causing widespread disruptions to ferry services across Greek seas, authorities warned.

According to the Hellenic Coast Guard, from the port of Piraeus, only ferries traveling to the Dodecanese islands are operating, while all other routes to different island destinations have been temporarily suspended. Travel to the Saronic Gulf islands is also suspended until further notice.

Similar disruptions affect the port of Rafina, where services to the Cyclades have been halted. A sailing ban remains in place at the port of Lavrio.

Several ferry lines across Greece have been closed, including:

  • Faneromeni Salamina – Megara

  • Nea Styra – Agia Marina

  • Keramoti – Thassos

  • Corfu – Igoumenitsa

  • Rio – Antirrio

  • Kyllini – Zakynthos

Passengers planning to travel today are urged to contact local port authorities and travel agencies for updates on potential changes or cancellations before departure.
