The Hellenic Fire Service has received a total of 103 emergency calls due to strong winds affecting the regions of the Peloponnese, Western Greece and Central Greece, authorities said on Sunday.
According to the Fire Service Operations Centre, the calls were recorded from early morning until 5:00 pm and mainly involved fallen trees, the removal of dangerous objects and water pumping operations.
In the Peloponnese region, firefighters responded to 33 calls, carrying out 24 tree-cutting operations and three removals of hazardous objects.
In Western Greece, the Operations Centre logged 47 calls. Fire crews there conducted 40 tree-cutting interventions, one water pumping operation and six removals of objects displaced by the strong winds.
Meanwhile, in Central Greece, 23 calls were reported, with firefighters carrying out 14 tree removals and one object removal.
The Fire Service urged citizens to remain particularly cautious, limit unnecessary movement where possible and strictly follow the instructions of the competent authorities as adverse weather conditions continue.
