Giannis Antetokounmpo Boos Back at Bucks Fans in Blowout Home Loss
Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo fired back at home fans Tuesday night (Jan. 13, 2026) during a humiliating 139-106 defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves at Fiserv Forum.
Down by over 30 points at halftime (76-45), the crowd booed the team off the court. The jeers continued into the third quarter, where Giannis responded after an and-1 layup over Julius Randle: sitting on the floor, he gave a double thumbs-down and booed the Milwaukee fans right back.
Postgame, the two-time MVP (25 points on 9-of-13 shooting) called it the first time he'd been booed at home in his 13-year Bucks career.
"Whenever I get booed, I boo back," he said. "It doesn't matter home or away. I play for my teammates, myself, and my family. When people don't believe in me, I don't tend to be with them… I don't think it's fair." 4 "LARGE" 6 "LARGE" 2 "LARGE"
The gesture mirrored ones he's used on the road this season after big plays. Minnesota, missing Rudy Gobert (suspension) and Anthony Edwards (injury), dominated wire-to-wire, leading by as many as 41. Julius Randle led with 29 points.
The Bucks (17-23) have dropped back-to-back games amid ongoing struggles. Coach Doc Rivers blamed fatigue from a recent West Coast trip, but Giannis rejected "dead legs" as an excuse: "My effort wasn't there… You cannot have that."
Milwaukee hits the road again Wednesday.
