Theodoris Marantinis Announces the End of Onirama: "We're Closing a Very Long Chapter—I'm Preparing Some Things on My Own"

The popular Greek pop-rock band Onirama has officially come to an end after 25 years, as confirmed by frontman Theodoris Marantinis. He revealed that the group is closing this significant chapter, while he is now preparing new material independently.

Marantinis shared the news during an interview on the STAR channel's morning show Breakfast@Star (noted in various reports as part of his appearance around January 13, 2026). He described the development as a major turning point in his life.

Specifically, Theodoris Marantinis said: "For me, it's a new period, in the sense that Onirama is closing a very long chapter, and I'm preparing some things myself. For me, this is a huge change.

In another segment of the interview, when asked about the two things that bother him the most, he replied: "In general, injustice bothers me—whether it's directed at me or at my loved ones. That bothers me a lot, along with lack of meritocracy. As I've grown older and matured, my boundaries and tolerances have shifted somewhat, so my reactions adjust accordingly, but I don't believe these matters should be made public," he noted.

Onirama was formed in 2000 in Thessaloniki. The founding members included Theodoris Marantinis (vocals), Dionyssis Frantzis, Giorgos and Dimitris Kokonidis, with Kostas Karakatsanis joining shortly afterward.

Originally named "Mixing Up The Medicine," the band rebranded to Onirama in 2003 following the addition of Christos Tresentzis. Their debut album was released at the end of 2005, launching a successful career marked by numerous hits and a distinctive pop-rock sound that resonated widely in Greece.

The disbandment, announced on January 13, 2026, marks the conclusion of a 25-year journey filled with memorable performances and songs. Marantinis emphasized that this is a natural evolution rather than a bitter end, as he transitions to a solo career and works on new personal projects. The news has been widely covered across Greek media, reflecting the band's enduring popularity.
