Greek military authorities reported new violations of the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR) and Greek national airspace by Turkish aircraft and an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) on January 13, 2026.
According to data released by the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (GEETHA), the incident involved two formations of four F-16 fighter jets (2×2), along with a single UAV, bringing the total number of Turkish aircraft to five.
The Hellenic Air Force recorded two breaches of Air Traffic Rules — one by the F-16s and one by the UAV — along with five violations of Greek national airspace by the F-16s. No engagements were reported.
The violations were observed over the Central and Southeastern Aegean.
Greek authorities stated that the Turkish aircraft were identified and intercepted in accordance with international rules, following standard practice.
