Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni conducted high-level meetings with senior executives of the French tourism sector this week, focusing on strategic collaboration and the promotion of Greece as a year-round destination.
Accompanied by the president of the Greek National Tourism Organization, Angela Varela, Minister Kefalogianni met with key representatives from leading French tourism companies, including Thalasso N°1 and NG Travel. Discussions reviewed Greece’s tourism performance in 2025 and outlined priorities for 2026, emphasizing diversification of the tourism product, extending the travel season, and enhancing the quality of incoming visitors from France.
The Minister highlighted opportunities in Northern Greece, particularly Thessaloniki, as well as the Peloponnese, aiming to expand tourism during the autumn and winter months. Lesser-known Greek islands and off-peak travel to Crete were also discussed, alongside initiatives to strengthen flight connections between France and Greece to increase accessibility and visitor flows outside the peak season.
Kefalogianni also gave an interview to Le Figaro, the historic French newspaper celebrating 200 years of continuous publication. In her interview, she stressed the importance of the French market for Greek tourism, the promotion of lesser-known destinations, and the development of new tourism experiences. She further highlighted legislative measures to improve accessibility and the introduction of an environmental performance-based classification system for Greek tourism businesses.
Investments in Greek airports were also noted as key to improving service quality, ensuring that visitors from France and other international markets enjoy a seamless travel experience.
