The Los Angeles Greek Film Festival (LAGFF) has unveiled the lineup for its inaugural LAGFF-doc, a dedicated Documentary Festival running from January 30 to February 1, 2026. This new event spotlights the courage, artistry, and dedication of documentary filmmakers, giving voice to authentic lived experiences and truths through powerful non-fiction storytelling.
Designed to showcase these works on an international stage beyond Greece, the festival features a curated selection of 22 Greek feature and short documentaries (including those from Greece, Cyprus, and Greek/Cypriot diaspora filmmakers, or films on related themes). It honors outstanding achievements with Orpheus Awards for Best Feature and Short Documentary, Audience Awards, and a Social Justice Award presented by Loyola Marymount University (LMU). The inaugural edition is presented in collaboration with LMU and emphasizes stories that demand attention and reflection.
Highlights from the program include:
- The Stuff We Are Made Of (Apo Ti Eimaste Ftiagmenoi) (2025, dir. Siamak Etemadi): A thoughtful exploration of love, intimacy, and the erotic body through the perspective of disability. The film follows Aris, a young paraplegic psychology student, as he researches stereotypes around the sex lives of disabled people in Greece—a long-taboo topic. His personal quest uncovers deeper questions about attraction, connection, and love, featuring interviews with experts, interabled couples, sexual assistants, dating apps, and accessible events.
- Requiem in Salt (2025, dir. Sylvia Nicolaides and Nicolas Iordanou): A meditative work on death, impermanence, art, and memory. Following the loss of his sister, artist Yamamoto creates elaborate salt installations as tributes to departed loved ones, reflecting on life's fleeting nature.

The full program encompasses a diverse range of themes, from cultural heritage and personal journeys to social issues, environmental concerns, and artistic expression. Feature documentaries include titles such as The Goals of August (Ta Termata tou Avgoustou), The Charcoal Makers of Ikaria Island (Oi Karvouniarides Tis Ikarias), Light of Cappadocia: Saints Arsenios & Paisios, In the Image of Human (Kat’ Ikona Tou Anthropou), The Luthier, A Clown Girl, Waves Won’t Stop (Aenaa Kymata), When The Swallows Fall Silent (Otan Sigoun Ta Xelidonia), Mankind’s Folly, Lo (Λο), Breaking Ground – Reinventing an Island (E apoasylopoiisi enos nisiou), The Art Of Remembering, and My Ioannina Odyssey.

Short documentaries feature All That Jam, Change Makers, At the Market (Sto Pazari), Emery, Marble and Vine (Smyrida, Marmaro kai Ampeli), Guardians of Hellenism: The Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, and From Cambridge With Love.
Screenings are scheduled across the three days, with more details on times and venues available on the official site.
