Police Arrest Drug Dealers Who Hid Their Stash in Greek Church

Greek police arrested five foreign nationals aged between 18 and 24 for drug trafficking in Agios Panteleimon Square, after uncovering an improvised drug stash hidden inside a drainpipe of the Church of Saint Panteleimon.

Officers from the DIAS motorcycle police unit spotted the suspects during a routine patrol after observing suspicious exchanges between them. Police approached the group and conducted checks, during which officers found quantities of cannabis and narcotic pills concealed on two of the suspects. An 18-year-old had hidden drugs inside a cap, while a 24-year-old concealed narcotics in his mouth.

Following the initial arrests, police carried out a thorough search of the square and discovered a specially modified drainpipe attached to the church. Investigators found 15 packages of processed cannabis inside the pipe, prepared for street-level distribution. The suspects had altered the drainpipe to conceal the drugs and avoid detection during inspections.

In total, police seized 13.8 grams of processed cannabis ready for sale, a small quantity of raw cannabis, two narcotic tablets, and €20 in cash. Authorities charged the suspects with forming and operating a criminal group involved in drug trafficking.

Police transferred the five suspects to the competent prosecutor for further legal proceedings.
