The 17-year-old Geladaris, currently ranked No. 77 in the ITF Juniors world rankings, cruised through the opening set with a convincing bagel before sealing the second-set tiebreak to advance to the second qualifying round. The match took place in Traralgon, where the Australian Open Junior qualifying rounds are being held ahead of the main draw at Melbourne Park (January 24–February 1, 2026).

This marks Geladaris' first-ever Grand Slam appearance at the junior level. Fresh from competing in the J300 Traralgon Junior International last week, the young Greek showed sharp form and composure under pressure in his qualifying opener.
One more victory is all that stands between Geladaris and a coveted spot in the Australian Open Junior main draw. In his next match, he will face the winner of the encounter between Polish player Jan Sadzik (No. 103) and Irish player Eoghan Jennings (No. 133).
Geladaris, who has received support from the Greek and Greek-Australian community (including fundraising efforts to help him compete in Australia), is aiming to make a deep run in his maiden Grand Slam juniors event. Stay tuned for updates on his progress!
This performance sets up an exciting opportunity for the rising Greek talent to make his mark on one of tennis' biggest stages.
