Police in Zakynthos detained a 14-year-old middle school student on Tuesday after he arrived at school carrying a pistol in his bag, according to information from public broadcaster ERT.
The incident came to light when several classmates noticed the weapon and immediately alerted authorities. Police officers then brought the student to the Zakynthos Security Department for questioning.
Officers also detained the student’s father and took him to the police station as part of the investigation. Authorities are now awaiting a decision from the public prosecutor on how the case will proceed.
Police continue to examine how the minor obtained the weapon and whether any laws were violated in connection with its possession.
