Passengers aboard an Aegean/Olympic Air flight from Zakynthos to Athens experienced tense moments on Wednesday night after severe weather prevented the aircraft from landing at Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos.”
The flight departed Zakynthos at 18:39 but encountered intense weather conditions over Attica, forcing the pilots to divert the aircraft to Chios Airport. The plane landed safely in Chios at 20:16 after remaining airborne for one hour and 37 minutes, according to local outlet chiosin.gr.
After conditions improved, the aircraft departed Chios at 21:00 and continued its journey to Athens. Airline officials did not report any injuries, while the diversion followed standard safety procedures due to adverse weather affecting large parts of the country.
