Greek singer Stefanos Papadopoulos spoke publicly about the lawsuit he filed against fellow artist Giorgos Mazonakis, describing the circumstances that led to his decision and the psychological pressure he experienced afterward.
Papadopoulos appeared on the television program Real View, where he said he did not expect the wave of hostility that followed his revelations. He explained that he believed many parents would understand his position but instead faced widespread public criticism. He added that several people spoke publicly about him without contacting him directly, a development he said hurt him deeply.
He described how commentators interpreted his behavior inconsistently, accusing him of lying when he avoided looking at the camera and later questioning his credibility when he did look directly into it. Papadopoulos said he expected a neutral stance from the public discussion. He stressed that his family supports him fully and that he discusses everything with them, although he ultimately makes his own decisions.
Referring to the alleged incidents, Papadopoulos said many people asked why he did not leave or speak out at the time. He explained that he needed time to process what happened. After his professional collaboration ended, he believed he could move on, but the experience continued to trouble him.
Papadopoulos said he worked with Mazonakis for seven weeks and ultimately chose not to attend a scheduled concert. He added that there were no witnesses inside the dressing room, although people were present outside. He also said he felt uncomfortable speaking to his mother at the time, as she did not want him involved in nightlife venues.
“I know of other incidents, some of which crossed the line into indecency,” Papadopoulos said. “Giorgos Mazonakis did not realise that he harassed me, otherwise it would not have continued. It was not just once; it was repeated.”
The singer also described an environment that made him feel uneasy and pushed him toward distancing himself. He said phones were turned off and doors were closed during certain moments and claimed that another young person left the venue for similar reasons.
Papadopoulos further revealed that he has faced pressure from other professionals in the industry. He said an agent previously told him that unless he agreed to “do more,” they would not be able to work together. He also recounted a similar experience with a hairdresser who implied that professional attention required a personal relationship.
Papadopoulos said he remains certain about what he experienced, as he described events he personally lived through.
