Greece Ferry Cancellations Continue Due to High Aegean Winds

Ships across Greece remained docked on Monday as strong winds disrupted ferry services in many parts of the country.

The Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY) reported south-southeasterly winds ranging from 5 to 7 on the Beaufort scale. In the Aegean, winds locally reached 8 to 9 Beaufort, creating unsafe conditions for maritime travel.

The Hellenic Coast Guard announced that ferry routes from Piraeus to the Cyclades islands were suspended due to the adverse weather. The port of Rafina also recorded cancellations.

Authorities urged passengers planning to travel by ferry to contact their local port authorities and shipping companies for updates on schedules and potential cancellations.

No accidents have been reported, but officials warned that the strong winds could continue throughout the day, affecting maritime operations and other coastal activities.
