Homicide Squad detectives have charged an 80-year-old Wollert man with the murder of a 77-year-old woman following her death at a home in Melbourne's north.
Emergency services responded to reports of an unresponsive woman at an address on Saltlake Boulevard, Wollert, around 6:30am on Sunday, 25 January 2026. The 77-year-old Wollert resident was declared deceased at the scene.
Police arrested the man at the property, and homicide investigators later charged him with one count of murder. The pair were known to each other.
He appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday (27 January), but proceedings were adjourned due to the unavailability of a Greek interpreter, as reported by 9News.
The accused is scheduled to reappear in court at a later date.
