Greek City Times Diaspora & Culture – January 2026
Young Cypriots have a unique opportunity to strengthen their cultural ties and forge lifelong friendships through two immersive programs offered by NEPOMAK (World Federation of Young Overseas Cypriots). Applications are now open for the NEPOMAK Discover Cyprus Programme (NDCP) and the NEPOMAK Cyprus Culture Tour (NCCT), both heavily subsidised by NEPOMAK in partnership with the Government of Cyprus and the Youth Board of Cyprus.

These initiatives cover accommodation, activities, excursions, tuition (where applicable), and internal travel, making them accessible for eligible participants. Flights are generally self-funded (with possible partial subsidies), and participants must arrange their own return travel.

NEPOMAK Discover Cyprus Programme (NDCP) – Ages 18–22
Dates: July 6–27, 2026 (three weeks)
This flagship program delivers a transformative blend of education and adventure. Participants stay in modern University of Cyprus dormitories in Nicosia, attend certified Greek language, history, and culture classes (Monday–Thursday, 9:00–14:00), learn traditional Cypriot dancing, explore historical sites, natural wonders, beaches, and nightlife, and connect deeply with peers from the global Cypriot diaspora.
Past participant Dimitri Zissopoulos (NDCP 2025) described it as a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity”:
“I found a stronger cultural identity and connected in a new and deeper way with my Cypriot roots. I was lucky to have exposure to the language, culture, food, dance, and most of all other like-minded Cypriot diaspora who have become some of my closest friends. From partying at Ayia Napa to relaxing at the beach in Paphos and learning the language authentically, you get a taste of it all. This unique experience is incredibly valuable and worthwhile for all Cypriot Diaspora!”
NEPOMAK Cyprus Culture Tour (NCCT) – Ages 23–30
Dates: July 23–August 3, 2026 (10 days)
This compact yet enriching tour features professionally guided excursions, authentic hands-on activities (such as cooking traditional Cypriot dishes like koupepia), stays in scenic areas, such as the Troodos Mountains, cultural immersion, and social events. It also serves as a gateway to deeper NEPOMAK involvement and global networking.
Zoe Prandalos from Wollongong shared her experience:
“Before the trip, I knew little about Cypriot history and tradition. The NCCT tour did just that and more! I made lifelong friends and memories I’ll cherish forever. My fondest memories were making koupepia for the first time, staying in Troodos where we met our awesome 4x4 tour guides, and dancing! NCCT is an invaluable opportunity to meet like-minded people from across the globe and share unforgettable experiences. This tour is perfect for any Cypriot youth in their formative 20s to explore and evolve—call it character development!”
