Nearly 40% of Greek internet users now use ChatGPT, placing Greece 16th among 51 countries surveyed by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The data show that Greece recorded a sharp increase in chatbot usage between 2024 and 2025, with adoption rising by approximately 20 percentage points in just one year. This rapid growth brings Greece close to countries such as Switzerland, Sweden, and Belgium in overall ChatGPT usage.
Singapore leads the global rankings in the use of the OpenAI-developed chatbot, while China ranks last, largely due to restricted access to the platform.
The expanding use of artificial intelligence tools in Greece highlights new opportunities for access to knowledge, productivity, and career development. However, experts also warn that Greece lacks clear educational guidelines for AI use and risks failing to fully utilize workers with advanced AI skills.
The findings underline both the momentum behind AI adoption in Greece and the need for structured policies to ensure the technology supports education, employment, and long-term economic growth.
