Rhodes Woman Alleges Four Years of Domestic Abuse by Partner

Greek authorities in Rhodes have opened a new domestic violence case following sworn testimony from a 41-year-old woman who reported repeated threats and physical abuse against a 53-year-old woman by her 55-year-old partner.

The witness, an Albanian national and resident of Ialyssos, submitted her statement to the competent police department, detailing years of alleged violence suffered by a compatriot of hers. According to the testimony, the abuse formed a consistent pattern of threats, fear, and physical violence rather than isolated incidents.

The case file indicates that the alleged victim reported to police on January 24, 2026, stating that her partner repeatedly threatened her inside their home in Ialyssos from 2021 until August 2025. She told authorities that the threats caused constant fear and anxiety and that the man physically assaulted her on multiple occasions, striking her on different parts of her body.

The complaint also shows that the violent behavior did not remain limited to Rhodes. From September until late November 2025, the couple relocated to Chania along with the 41-year-old witness. During that period, the man allegedly continued his abusive behavior.

Authorities consider November 27, 2025, a key date in the case, as the 53-year-old woman filed an official domestic violence complaint with the Chania police. Officers arrested the 55-year-old man at the time and brought him before the competent prosecutor as part of the already established case file.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities examine the full extent of the allegations.
