Moneycontrol.com noted, “Sunny islands, whitewashed villages, and food that speaks to the heart of visitors define Greece, combining beauty with warm hospitality. Travelers increasingly seek hidden treasures like Naxos and Syros, where authentic local experiences remain vibrant.”

Greek officials from both islands celebrated the recognition and highlighted their ongoing efforts to provide unique experiences for visitors.

Syros Deputy Mayor of Tourism Ioannis A. Voutsinos said, “Syros has the essential ingredients to offer unique travel experiences even outside peak season. Year by year, our narrative of holidays beyond the ordinary gains more traction.

Last year, our cultural program featured over 50 events, including concerts, theater performances, dance shows, and children’s activities, running from May to November and attracting visitors from Greece and abroad. The breadth of options, history, culture, and traditions throughout the year reveal a different side of Syros.”

Naxos Deputy Mayor of Tourism Vangelis Katsaras added, “On Naxos and the Small Cyclades, no visitor is treated as a mass tourist. The island offers the perfect balance of relaxation, recreation, and cultural enrichment in a stunning natural setting. Naxos provides countless options for families, couples, friends, solo travelers, and adventure enthusiasts. Visitors can explore ancient history and mythology, wander medieval corners, enjoy local products and cuisine, relax on golden beaches, or take part in diving, windsurfing, kitesurfing, cycling, hiking, and island hopping across the beautiful Small Cyclades.”

The recognition of Syros and Naxos underscores Greece’s growing appeal for travelers seeking authentic, culturally rich, and sustainable experiences.
