Olympiacos extended its EuroLeague winning streak to five games with an 87-75 victory over Barcelona at the Peace and Friendship Stadium (SEF) on Thursday, securing a place in the top four.
The Greek side dominated the first and fourth quarters with fast, spectacular basketball, building a 17-point lead in the opening period. Despite a Barcelona comeback that briefly put them ahead by five in the third quarter, Olympiacos regained control through key performances from Tyrique Jones and Sasha Vezenkov.
Jones finished with 16 points, eight rebounds, three steals, and three blocks, while Vezenkov added 20 points and 11 rebounds. Tyler Dorsey contributed 17 points, including a crucial three-pointer that effectively sealed the win. Newly signed Cory Joseph impressed in his debut, showing potential despite limited court time.
The win brings Olympiacos to a 16-8 record with one game in hand, while Barcelona falls to 16-9. Fans at SEF honored the seven young PAOK supporters who tragically died in a car accident in Romania with a minute of silence before tip-off.
