Christina Dietze, 38, is making history as the oldest contestant in Miss Universe Australia. The model and fashion designer announced her candidacy for the 2026 competition, aiming to follow in the footsteps of her hero, Jennifer Hawkins, Miss Universe Australia 2004.
Until 2023, contestants could only be between 18 and 28 years old. The age restriction has since changed, allowing women over 28 to compete. Restrictions on marital status have also been lifted, enabling married women, divorced women, and mothers to participate.
Dietze said she has maintained her physical fitness and believes she deserves a chance at the crown. “I’ve taken care of myself and I have been in the modelling world for quite some time,” she told the Herald Sun.

She added, “I feel that when we reach our 30s, we have experienced more challenging life moments and have matured. I have something to share and offer.”
The move to expand eligibility reflects broader changes in the competition, giving women of diverse ages and life experiences the opportunity to represent Australia on the global stage.
