Snow set to hit Athens again by end of the week

Weather conditions in Greece are expected to turn icy cold again on Wednesday and Thursday before taking a sharp turn for the worse on Friday and especially over the weekend.

Very cold masses of air from the pole are expected to move towards Greece at the end of the week, heading south via Ukraine and the Black Sea.

According to the National Observatory of Athens meteo weather service, temperatures are expected to drop by over 10 degrees centigrade and bring heavy snowfall, even in areas with a low altitude.

Meteorologists say Attica, Viotia, and Evia will be mostly hit with new snow on Friday night.

Most of the snow is expected to fall to the north of Attica and the centre of Athens is also expected to be blanketed in white by the weekend.
