Matt Damon Unveils Chiseled Physique for Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ See Video

Christopher Nolan Takes on 'The Odyssey' with Star-Studded Cast

Matt Damon, at 54, has undergone a stunning physical transformation for his latest role, revealing sculpted abs on the set of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey. The actor, known for adapting his body to fit demanding roles, was photographed shirtless on a rugged Italian hillside, sporting tattered beige pants tied at the waist. His gray, bushy beard and wavy, windswept hair added a weathered edge to his look.

Captured in images obtained by People, Damon was joined by co-star Zendaya, who wore a flowing tan Grecian-style dress, her dark hair neatly pulled back. The pair are part of Nolan’s ambitious retelling of Homer’s epic, with Damon cast as Odysseus, the legendary Greek hero, and Tom Holland set to play his son, Telemachus. Zendaya’s role remains under wraps.

Universal Pictures announced the project in December 2024 via X, describing The Odyssey as “a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology.” The studio promised a groundbreaking cinematic experience, bringing “Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time” when it hits theaters on July 17, 2026.

Damon’s ripped physique marks a dramatic shift, aligning with the physical demands of portraying the battle-hardened Odysseus. This isn’t the first time the actor has transformed for a role, but his latest evolution has already sparked buzz, setting the stage for Nolan’s highly anticipated epic.
