Greek National Day Finds Resonance in Kibbutz Be’eri: A Celebration of Resilience and Solidarity

In a poignant gesture of unity, the Greek Embassy in Israel selected Kibbutz Be’eri—one of the areas most devastated by the October 7 Hamas attacks—as the setting for Greece’s National Day celebration.

Held on the 204th anniversary of Greece’s uprising against Ottoman rule, the event was steeped in symbolic meaning. Greek representatives highlighted how their National Day embodies “strength, resilience, and renewal,” qualities that echo deeply with the Israeli people in these challenging times. Speaking to those gathered, Greece’s Ambassador to Israel, Maya Solomou, expressed heartfelt gratitude: “From the depths of our hearts, we thank the residents of Kibbutz Be’eri for opening their home to us. And to all of you here, we are grateful for joining us to mark Greek National Day with pride and emotion.”
