Greek singer Haris Varthakouris took to Instagram this afternoon to share a string of family woes with his online followers.
In a candid post, he revealed that he’s fallen ill, forcing him to spend his birthday bedridden and cancel upcoming performances. Adding to the family’s troubles, one of his daughters suffered an accident and will be using crutches for the time being after a late-night rush to KAT hospital.
In his Instagram story, Varthakouris hinted that the family’s misfortunes might be linked to the “evil eye” or gossip. He suggested that recent criticism over his controversial statement—that his wife Annelina’s place is at home because their daughters still need her—could be to blame. “I don’t know how many of you believe in the evil eye or tongue-lashing,” he wrote. “We didn’t hear the end of it last week. But I’ve been sick since yesterday—I felt it coming the day before—and woke up even worse today. Birthday in bed with antibiotics. Our eldest daughter is on crutches; we were running to KAT last night. It’s hit the whole family. As a result, I’m sadly forced to cancel at least my next two live shows.”
The post has sparked sympathy and debate among fans, with many wishing the Varthakouris family a speedy recovery amid their unexpected challenges.
