Greek National Team Drops to Sixth in FIBA EuroBasket Power Rankings

With less than a month until EuroBasket 2025, the Greek national basketball team has slipped to sixth place in FIBA’s latest power rankings, down two spots from their initial fourth-place position.

The updated rankings, released ahead of the tournament, see Turkey and Latvia surpassing Greece, while Serbia, Germany, and France continue to hold the top three spots as favourites.

Serbia, led by a formidable roster, remains the team to beat, with Germany and France close behind. The Greek squad, under coach Vassilis Spanoulis, welcomed NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo on Monday (August 4), completing the team’s lineup as they prepare for friendly matches in Greece and Cyprus.

EuroBasket 2025 tips off on August 27, with Greece competing in a challenging group stage in Limassol against Cyprus, Italy, Spain, Georgia, and Bosnia.
