‘Not a shock’: Hatzi opens up on Kyrgios split

Costeen Hatzi has broken her silence on her very public split from tennis star Nick Kyrgios, revealing how she has moved forward from the end of their four-year relationship.

The cosmetics entrepreneur confirmed the separation back in April and later admitted in May that the pair no longer speak. Now, in a new interview with Stellar Magazine, the 25-year-old has shared how she’s adjusted to life after Kyrgios.

“It’s different now. I have all this time for myself,” she told the magazine. “I’m in a really reflective but motivated place. It’s definitely been an adjustment, but I mentally prepared myself for that — it wasn’t a shock. This year has been a transition period. Of course, there are days where I’m not 100 per cent happy, but I feel headstrong and positive about the future.”

Despite the high-profile split, Hatzi insists she has no regrets. “Going through a break-up isn’t going to tear me down or upset me too much,” she said, adding that advice from family and friends helped her take the higher road.

“They’ve told me to focus on myself and to be the classier person when it comes to the break-up,” she explained. “I don’t want to ruin his name. Sometimes emotions get the better of me, but it’s not in my nature to say anything bad about him. We still had a beautiful relationship, even though it didn’t turn out the way I hoped. I’ve found peace within myself, and I hope he’s happy too.”

Since the split, Hatzi has been travelling across Europe, sharing highlights from Italy, Greece and Spain with her Instagram followers. She described the “girls trip” as a much-needed escape from the Australian winter.

Reflecting on the end of the relationship, she told The Herald Sun earlier this year: “We haven’t spoken. Relationships come to an end and I believe it’s for the best. I definitely entered the relationship with pure intentions, I loved him and thought we had a great connection. Now that I’m not travelling, I can do what I want and be fully present.”

Hatzi even hinted at moving away from dating athletes, joking before her Australian Fashion Week appearance: “Maybe I’ll steer away from the athletes.”

The pair’s relationship began in 2021 after connecting on Instagram, quickly sparking engagement and baby rumours within a year. Kyrgios frequently spoke of marriage, and Hatzi was even spotted wearing a diamond ring in 2022. Last year, she admitted the couple had conversations about settling down but said there was “no rush.”

Meanwhile, Kyrgios, now 30, continues his battle to revive his career following injuries and multiple surgeries. He has activated his protected ranking of 21 to secure a place in the US Open later this month and is also set to team up with Naomi Osaka in mixed doubles.
