Crete Police Arrest Two Men in Major Drugs and Weapons Bust

Two men, aged 27 and 33, were arrested on Saturday, January 3, 2026, in Rethymno, Crete, during a targeted police operation for drug and weapons offences.

Police from the Mylopotamos Police Operations Department, acting under the operational plan of the Rethymno Police Directorate, stopped the suspects in a private vehicle in the municipality of Anogeia. During the inspection, authorities discovered and seized 453 grams of cannabis, a folding knife, and two mobile phones.

Subsequent searches of the suspects’ residences in the Heraklion area, carried out with the support of Rethymno’s Narcotics Division, uncovered an extensive cache of weapons and drugs. Seized items included:

  • One pistol with two magazines and 69 bullets of various calibers

  • 199 cartridge cases

  • Four gas pistols with magazines

  • 20.3 grams of cannabis and 0.4 grams of raw cannabis in chocolate form

  • A suitcase, sword, bayonet, two brass knuckles, a scale, 19 cannabis seeds, 19 knives

  • Cash totaling €1,550, believed to originate from criminal activity

The vehicle used by the two men was also confiscated as it had been used in committing criminal offences.

The investigation is ongoing under the Rethymno Narcotics Division, and the suspects are expected to be brought before the appropriate judicial authorities.
