Ange Postecoglou returned to the spotlight after two of his former Premier League clubs - Tottenham and Nottingham Forest - sacked their managers on the same day.

Postecoglou has remained out of work since Nottingham Forest dismissed him just weeks into his tenure earlier this season. He had taken the Forest job soon after Tottenham removed him following the club’s UEFA Europa League title triumph last season.
Tottenham became the first club to announce a departure, sacking Thomas Frank after a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle on Tuesday left Spurs just five points above the relegation zone.
In a statement, Tottenham said it appointed Frank in June 2025 and tried to give him time and support to build for the future. The club said results and performances forced the board to make a change during the season.
Frank’s dismissal emerged on the same morning Postecoglou arrived to record an episode of The Overlap alongside Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott, Ian Wright and Roy Keane.
A teaser clip showed Postecoglou walking into the studio smiling and saying, “Some timing, hey,” before the panel asked him about Frank. The clip cut away before showing his full response.
Both Tottenham and Nottingham Forest now begin searches for new managers after Postecoglou’s successors failed to reverse their clubs’ fortunes.
