Piraeus port restored after Refugees depart

Greek authorities are finally in a position to restore the port of Piraeus to normal conditions and functionality after more than 1,000 illegal migrants and refugees who used it for temporary shelter have decided to leave.

According to reports 400 of them left for port destinations of their choice as did over 250 who took public transport.

As of last Monday there was a combined total of 1039 illegal migrants and refugees in Piraeus who had used the area for temporary shelter.

Port authorities have now moved in with cleaning crews to clean up the entire port area.
