Anyone lucky enough to be in Greece at the moment should make the most of the free August Full Moon events, which are currently taking place across the entire nation, with the highlight taking place tomorrow evening, August 7.

Greece’s Culture and Sports Ministry will open a total of 115 archaeological sites around Greece for free for the public with concerts, theatre and dance performances, guided tours, poetry readings, film screenings and art shows, all which have been organised by Greece’s Cultural Ministry in celebration of this month’s full moon.

The highlight will be tomorrow evening where 93 archaeological sites, monuments and museums across the country will host concerts, poetry nights, star-gazing, theatrical performances, art exhibitions, dance, tours and shadow-puppet theatre.

Furthermore, 22 sites and museums will operate longer hours to welcome their visitors.

The Acropolis on August 7 will remain open until 8pm and the Sounio archaeological sites will be open until midnight.

The Acropolis Museum will feature a performance by musician and singer Manolis Mitsias and his band who will perform popular melodies by Greek songwriters and composers including, Manos Hadjidakis, Mikis Theodorakis, Stavros Xarchakos, Thanos Mikroutsikos, Loukianos Kilaidonis, Christos Leontis and Dimos Moutsis. Performance begins from 9pm and the museum is open from 8am.
