Greece has dominated ‘Europe’s Top 10 Islands’ category again at this year’s Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards, with Milos taking first place, Crete second, Paros fourth and Santorini close behind in fifth position.

Travel + Leisure (T+L) is a travel magazine based in New York City and is known as one of the world’s most influential travel brands. Every year T+L holds their World’s Best Awards survey, asking millions of readers worldwide to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe- sharing their opinions on the top cities, islands, cruise ships and more.

“One of the Cyclades, Mílos, is known as the place where the famed Venus de Milo statue was discovered. But visitors today still find their own treasures while exploring this 58-square-mile island. Stroll its cobblestoned streets, hike volcanic craters, wander through ruins, or stretch out on the groomed white-sand beaches overlooking turquoise waters.

Even Adamantas, the largest town in Milos with two museums and many boutique hotels, remains free of the crowds prevalent on the other Greek isles. And, as one fan pointed out, “it’s very affordable.” For embodying the finest qualities that European islands have to offer, T+L readers attest that “one can do no better.”
