Footage has emerged of the full moon illuminating the waters by Koroni castle on August 15.
The Koroni castle, built on the ruins of the ancient Messenian town of Asine, is one of the finest examples of the Venetian fortress architecture. It was built by the Venetians in the 13th century and revamped by the Ottomans in the 16th.
The most important monuments of the site is the Byzantine Castle, the Byzantine church of Aghia Sophia, the Church of St. Charalambos and the Church of Panaghia Eleistria.
Witnessing the lunar phase when the Moon appears fully illuminated from Earth’s perspective (full moon) across Greece was a beautiful sight to see, and we would love to see our GCT followers’ photos in the comments!
