Coronavirus: 2512 new cases, 52 deaths

Greece set to extend lockdown as covid cases soar

Greek health authorities have announced 2512 new cases of the coronavirus over the 24 hours ending at 3 p.m. Saturday. There were also 52 deaths.

The number of patients on ventilators, 545, is still relatively high, testing the National Health System’s capacity.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 219,521 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, along with 7,038 deaths.

The suspension of domestic flights due to the pandemic we extended to March 22, the Civil Aviation Authority (CYA) said on Saturday.

The extension to 06.00 on March 22 affects domestic flights, commercial and general/business aviation at all domestic airports. The exception is made for essential travel, as detailed by the existing notam, the CYA said. This includes health, business, reconnection of families and returns to a permanent place of residence.
