German non governmental organisation Safers (Support Association for Fire and Rescue Services) has donated three fire engines to volunteer firefighters on the Greek islands of Kefalonia, Samos and Evia.

“We are very happy that we can also implement this project together with the Ελληνογερμανική Synéleusē-Deutsch-Griechische Versammlung and Norbert Barthle. In addition, we want to thank Werbedruck und Stick Jakobs and Karl Eierle GmbH for their support in the framework of our projects,” Safers posted on Facebook.

In addition to the vehicles, firefighting equipment will be distributed to volunteers in Icaria, Lesvos and Milos.

“On our way through Greece. It was and is a matter of the heart to visit friends and partners… Personal exchange is important even in corona times. Meeting in the fresh air luckily it’s possible again,” the post continued.

In October, a support vehicle will arrive in Santorini.

Safers supports voluntary firefighting and rescue projects all over the world through equipment donations and trainings.
