Celebrated barrister Geoffrey Robertson QC launched his book ‘Who Owns History?” to a packed auditorium yesterday in Sydney in the presence of many Australian and Greek community leaders and officials.
During his talk Mr Robertson made the case for a legal challenge for the return of looted cultural artefacts such as the Parthenon Marbles which were taken by Lord Elgin more than 200 years ago and are currently on display in the British Museum in London.
At the conclusion of the talk Mr Robertson signed copies of his book which was available in both English and Greek.
The event was organised by the Australians for the Return of the Parthenon Sculptures Committee and The Athenian Association Of NSW with the support of AHEPA NSW, Lefas Humannitas and Orama Communications.
The event was live streamed by media partner Greek City Times.
