New warning from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki professor of Environmental Engineering, Demosthenes Sarigiannis, about the course of the COVID-19 pandemic in Greece.
"By the end of the month, we will have 3,500 cases a day and a bigger increase afterwards," warned Sarigiannis when speaking to ANT1.
Sarigiannis noted that in recent days there has been a slowdown, but "since yesterday we observe an increasing trend."
It is very important, as he said, "to do rapid testing in areas that show a strong upward trend."
As for the measures in Mykonos, he pointed out that they may end next week "if we take it seriously".
It is reminded that a curfew was imposed on the island from 01:00 to 06:00.
There is also a complete music ban on the island.
At the same time, Sarigiannis pointed out that if COVID-19 vaccinations do not reach 75% in autumn, "we will have 6,000 cases a day."
He did say this scenario can be prevented though.
The COVID-19 Delta mutation worries the experts a lot.
In Crete, eight out of 10 cases are from this mutation, one in three in the Ionian Islands and one in four in Attica.
At the same time, Attica is once again having problems since the viral load has increased by 170% .
