Turkish media triggered by Greek president visiting a Greek island!

Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou Kastellorizo

The Turkish press is targeting Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou for visiting the Greek island of Kastelorizo on Tuesday.

Totally identified with Ankara's false narrative about the demilitarisation of the islands, the Turkish press attacked the president because she visited Greek territory and because she stated unequivocally that our country "will effectively defend its national integrity and its sovereign rights".

Some publications include: "The President of Greece exceeded the limits. She threatened a Turkish island" wrote the Yeniçağ newspaper, defiantly describing Kastellorizo as a "Turkish" island.

On the same wavelength, Aydınlık talks about "Threats from the Turkish island to Turkey", noting that the President of the Republic: "threatens Turkey from an island, the ownership of which was never transferred to Greece".

Sözcü emphasises that the President of the Republic: "went to an island that should be demilitarised,” stating that she was photographed in... "war poses".

Yeni Şafak talked about Sakellaropoulou's "provocative tour in Kastellorizo".

Katerina Sakellaropoulou attended the festivities organised by the municipality of Megistis to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the liberation of the island.

With her statements, she sent her own message to Turkey: "Greece, with respect to international law, seeks a constructive relationship with its neighbours. But it will effectively defend its national integrity and its sovereign rights, if that is necessary."
