On this list was Pagrati at Number 39
Pagrati has quickly risen to super-hip status. Despite being close to the Panathenaic Stadium, the site of the first modern Olympic Games, and the centre of Athens, the neighbourhood has never been very popular with tourists.
Whereas it was originally seen as dull, it is now a draw for creative types who frequent its hip pubs, blasting anything from rock and blues to hip hop and the artisanal restaurants that have just swept in.
Do yourself a favour and make your way through the winding lanes and varied alleys, which are lined with bohemian cafés and a curious fusion of neo-classical and modern buildings with sporadic views of the mountains that encircle the city.
