The Municipality of Athens has organized a variety of music events aiming to entertain the Greek capital’s residents and visitors and enrich this year’s Christmas atmosphere.
Organized by the municipality’s Technopolis and This is Athens official city guide, the events will transform Athens into a lively music scene with Syntagma Square at its core.
The historic Athenian square will host 21 concerts during December 20–28 in three different time slots.
Starting at 11 am, small- or large-scale orchestras will create a Greek or international soundtrack for their attending audience or passersby.
At 2 pm, new bands and artists will present their fresh take on what music once was and can be, while at 6 pm some of the most popular Greek singers will visit Syntagma’s scene and sing under the 21-meter-high Christmas tree.
On December 21, St. Paul’s Anglican Church will host Church Sessions in collaboration with Pepper 96.6 radio station.
The event will be a marathon of live performances with artists that will succeed each other between 6 pm and 6 am.
Greek and foreign musicians will share the longest night of the year in the solemn atmosphere of the church, allowing the audience to have an unforgettable musical experience.
The municipality’s Christmas 2022 music program will culminate on New Year’s Eve where Syntagma Square will bid farewell to 2022 and welcome the New Year with an audiovisual extravaganza that will include lots of music, fun, dancing, fireworks, wishes and positive energy.
An hour into 2023, the Varvakeios Municipal Market will welcome the new year with a party featuring some of Athens’ most famous DJs.
