Turkish DM sends wreath to the funeral of Nikos Panagiotopoulos’ mother

Greek Defence Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar

Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar contacted his Greek counterpart Nikos Panagiotopoulos by phone to express his condolences on the death of his mother, showing that the channel of communication between the two countries remains open despite the tensions.

The Turkish Defence Minister also sent a wreath to the funeral of the Greek Minister’s mother.

Akar reportedly said in his message: “Dear Nikos, my sincere condolences to you and your family, may your mother rest in peace.”

Panagiotopoulos thanked his Turkish counterpart, wishing 2023 to be a year of peace in which the two sides will work together for stability in the region.

Hulusi Akar also contacted the Ministry of Defence to send a wreath to the funeral of the mother of Nikos Panagiotopoulos, which was accepted.
