MasterChef judges shocked by contestant: "I was 230kg and brought back to life with an electric shock" (vid)

MasterChef Greece

A MasterChef Greece contestant told the three judges his background story and the serious health problems he has faced in the past.

Specifically, Thomas from Thessaloniki, explaining to Leonidas Koutsopoulos, Panos Ioannidis and Sotiris Kontizas why he chose to study to be a dietician, recounted the period when he was extremely overweight and almost lost his life.

The judges were puzzled by his words and Koutsopoulos asked him to clarify.

"I reached 230 kg when I was 18 years old and when I was 19 years old I had an incident where I had a breakdown and for some minutes I was unconscious in the emergency room. They brought me back with adrenaline and electric shocks," he initially said.

"This resulted in me trying to diet for the first time in my life - because all the times I had tried at that time I did not succeed - and after I found the will in myself, I decided to go and study it to help others," Thomas continued.

"This whole experience changed my life and my whole worldview. I work out, but because of work it's whenever I can go. Until 2 years ago I was doing bodybuilding professionally," said the contestant.
